Children First Medical Group (CFMG) was founded with the intention of providing quality health care for children in Northern California. We work with hundreds of physicians and specialists who provide the best care available for your child. CFMG is proud to provide health care services which are available through a distinct, special relationship with Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland (CHRCO). CHRCO is the only independent children’s hospital in Northern California and the oldest pediatric medical center between Los Angeles and Seattle, and has provided exceptional medical care for children in the region for 95 years.

Children First Medical Group was founded in 1994 as a comprehensive pediatric network offering primary care and pediatric specialty care for children.  The physician members of CFMG are hospital based at Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland, and includes community based pediatricians located throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. There are approximately 200 primary care physicians and 200 specialty physicians participating in the CFMG network.

The CFMG network serves as a choice for pediatric well care and specialty care services in the local community, in addition to providing tertiary care referral services to surrounding states and counties throughout Northern California and Nevada.

History of CHILDREN FIRST MEDICAL GROUP

In September of 1994, Children First Medical Group, Inc. (CFMG) was formed as a California professional corporation functioning as an Individual Practice Association (IPA).  

CFMG was formed as a comprehensive pediatric network offering primary care and pediatric specialty care for children.  The physician members of CFMG are hospital-based at Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland and community based pediatricians located throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

The CFMG network serves as a choice for pediatric well care and specialty care services in the local community, in addition to providing tertiary care referral services to surrounding states and counties throughout Northern California and Nevada.

CFMG pediatric specialists serve as the preferred pediatric referral networks for many other medical groups and IPA’s.
